Your time is valuable, so let’s get right to it: Here are the three questions potential clients most often want to know about me.

Q: How do your services (career counselor, resume writing, life coach, business consultant) differ from what others offer?

Unlike many career counselors and life coaches, I’ve undergone rigorous professional training. I’m a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (CPCC), certified by the nation’s pre-eminent coaching school, the Coaches Training Institute.

I’ve been told that I’m extraordinarily intuitive about people. I can help you quickly identify your true passions and goals, and how you’ve been getting in your own way. This applies to individuals as well as to teams within organizations.

I’ll give you honest, constructive feedback to help you get where you’re going faster.

I’m flexible. I won’t tie you to a long-term contract. Our work together will be focused solely on your agenda.

I have many years of marketing experience, in SMBs and large companies. I know how to help individuals and organizations build their brand, and to differentiate and market themselves more successfully.

I’ve developed a proven resume format designed to differentiate you in a competitive job market. It’s flexible, so we can tailor it to each potential employer.

I have offices in San Francisco and in Silicon Valley. Though in-person meetings are the most effective, I’m also available for telephone consultations and Skype video conferences.

Q: How does your career counseling process work?

We’ll start with a complimentary telephone consultation. I’ll ask you about your goals and challenges and answer your questions about my experience and process.

When you’re ready to proceed, we may start with a passion discussion. The goal is to identify what gives you joy, and how your career might incorporate those things.

Or we might begin by developing your career path. Often, that involves writing a high-impact resume, identifying target companies that share your values, and developing a networking plan.

We’ll weigh the pros and cons of recruiters and Internet job boards. I’ll show you some effective Internet marketing techniques. We’ll practice interviewing (with or without video recording). I’ll help you better understand the interviewing process and how to negotiate salary and benefits. Once you’ve landed a job, I’ll help you determine the next phase of your career.

Everything is a la carte. You choose the services you need, as you need them.

Q: What is your background?

I have over 19 years of experience counseling individuals and teams in start-ups, Fortune 500 corporations, and non-profits. I’ve coached C-level executives, project managers, entrepreneurs, consultants, small business owners, architects, attorneys, salespeople, and MBAs. People in finance, Web 2.0, software, hardware, green/sustainable industries, human resources, marketing, public relations, advertising, manufacturing, government, the arts, real estate, and consultants. People throughout the U.S., in Europe, and in Asia. I’ve helped them all move on, move up, and break out.

In my years of experience working for Fortune 500 corporations, I received extensive individual and management development training. I’m also a graduate of the Coaches Training Institute, the world’s largest coach-training school.

A career counselor & resume writing success story

“Nick Parham was tremendously helpful when I was looking to get back into technology sales after four years in another industry. He guided me through a series of questions designed to uncover my most notable career achievements, my strengths and weaknesses, and the ‘soft skills’ many resumes and job seekers neglect to mention. He recommends a skills-based resume format that’s a refreshing alternative to the old-school, boring timeline. Based on his coaching, I quickly lined up a series of interviews, which turned into two very exciting job offers.” – Brendan Hickey, high tech sales executive, Silicon Valley
